Who We Are

About the Friends

The Friends of Christ the Consoler is a registered charity (Charity No. 1207736), established to support the work of the Churches Conservation Trust in preserving and bringing life to Christ the Consoler at Newby Hall, Skelton-on-Ure.

We organise events, raise funds for restoration projects, and work to ensure that this extraordinary building remains a living, vibrant part of the community — and a destination for visitors from around the world.

Our current priority is Project 150, marking our 150th anniversary, which will reinstate conservation heating and the restoration of our Grade I listed Thomas C Lewis pipe organ. We aim to raise £250,000 to return this magnificent instrument to full working order.

The Friends are registered at: c/o Estate Office, Newby Hall, Ripon HG4 5AE.
